RexOnline soaring

Mention the Internet or software recruitment and the stock market will love you. Both together is even better. RexOnline, placed at 50p, soared to 120p in first-day dealings on AIM. It had raised £1m to expand its fledgling recruitment business. It has a database of 8,000 IT specialists.

Firms are charged a fee to access its website and cherry-pick technicians for full-time and part-time jobs. RexOnline claims this is cheaper than using an agency to find staff.

Chief executive Simon Hersh says the service can be extended to other markets such as accountancy and the legal profession. After early losses, RexOnline is breaking even. It could offer a tasty target for a larger group keen to break into Internet recruitment.
