EMAP shares rocket

Shares in publisher EMAP have jumped in early trading after a Sunday newspaper report further stoked bid speculation around the company.

According to reports, internet group Yahoo! Inc is considering an offer of between £16 and £17 per share, made up of a mixture of cash and Yahoo! stock.

A bid would provide Yahoo! with content from EMAP's magazines such as FHM, Smash Hits and Empire. The company's other operations such as its radio networks would be sold off, the Sunday Business report said. Shares jumped 9% - 102p higher at 1220p.
