Irish rival for M&S

A high quality Irish clothing and food retailer with green shop facades and a St Bernard label of quality is set to take on M&S on its home turf.

The Irish group, Dunnes Stores, is planning agressive expansion in Britain, planning to double its store total from 10 over the next few years. It may also move into Europe.

The privately owned firm is based in Dublin and aims for similar customers as M&S - which says it is welcomes any competition and that it is pleased with anything that brings more customers onto UK high streets.
