Capital performance boosts Thistle

A strong performance at Thistle's London hotels made up for less than impressive trading at its regional properties, according to a trading update ahead of full-year results.

While London hotels lifted occupancy rates by

2.5% and average room rates by 6.7% to £80.05, the provincial hotels saw occupancy fall 0.6% and room rates rise by all of 7p for the year ended 31 December.

This left revenue per available room in London up 9.4% at £65.08 and down 0.5% in the country at £36.56. Chief executive Ian Burke said: 'Thistle had a good second half and we remain focused on maintaining this momentum.'

The shares rose 3p to end the day at 134 1/2p.
