Fresh Independent pickings for RSA

ROYAL & Sun Alliance has picked up another slice of Independent Insurance, paying £3m for its loss adjuster Property and Casualty Services. The deal was agreed with Independent's liquidators PricewaterhouseCoopers.

RSA will take on 300 PCS staff from today, increasing its loss adjusting staff to around 800 across its commercial and personal businesses. 'The PCS team will continue with its approach of undertaking loss adjusting work for other organisations as this makes sound financial sense to us from a revenue point of view,' said RSA chief executive Paul Spencer.

RSA last month took on 250,000 consumer policies from Independent and has been picking up select business lines. PwC has already axed 1,000 Independent staff, more than half its workforce.
