Emap considers break-up

MEDIA giant Emap is considering selling its non-core businesses, according to a report in Sunday Business. The company, which lists consumer magazines such as FHM and Classic Cars among its top-selling titles, has hinted that KissFM radio and some trade magazines may be put up for sale.

One media analyst is quoted as saying: 'The bottom line is that, unless we get a compelling argument for cross-ownership, Emap is going to face growing calls from its investors to break itself up.'

US investment bank Morgan Stanley is conducting the review. And French media companies, RTL Group and Lagardere, are believed to be interested in Emap's radio business if it is sold. Venture capitalists have expressed interest in buying the business-to-business publications such as Drapers Record.
