Giving is easy
DONATING money to charity has never been so simple, according to a new guide on tax efficient giving.
Published by Philanthropy UK, the free booklet 'A Guide to Giving', covers a range of ways to give to charity tax efficiently, including gifting shares, payroll giving, legacies and investment in social businesses.
The guide also highlights how people and businesses can make their donations go further, following recent tax rules that favour charitable causes.
It also includes forms on setting up a charitable trust, a jargon buster of technical terms and a list of useful contact addresses and websites.
The Association of Charitable Foundations, which set up Philanthropy UK, hopes the guide will encouarge people to give more money and time to charity.
Theresa Lloyd, author of the report, said: 'A Guide to Giving is the essential one-stop shop for anyone who is thinking about giving to good causes, and for anyone who already gives but wants to be more effective.'
The guide is available free of charge online at www.philanthropyUK.org. It will be updated regularly as new tax regulations and allowances are introduced. It will also include details of tax-efficient financial products.
A copy of the guide can also be ordered by post, for £10, from the Association of Charitable Foundations, 2 Plough Yard, Shoreditch High Street, London EC2A 3LP.
