Sunday Telegraph:
HIGH STREET retailer HMV said last week that sales remain buoyant at both its music chain and Waterstone's book store. The company is paying back debt faster than expected and is likely to return cash to shareholders, making it a buy at 238p.
Alternative Investment Market-listed accounting software vendor Systems Union, whose leading product is its Pegasus software, has seen a strong pick-up in demand. The group is heading for a bumper year with pre-tax profits forecast to rise from £6.1m last year to £10m. Buy at 117.5p.
European Diamonds, which searches for precious stones in Finland, last week bought a deposit of kimberlite - the rock that hosts diamonds - and is about to test the sample. Shares in junior mining companies are highly speculative but early signs are encouraging. Buy at 82.5p.
The Business:
Wyndeham Press has won new business in recent months and in this financial year profits should recover. The group has been changing its structure and adding to its management. Buy at 114.5p.
Avocet Mining last year soared into profitability on the back of the gold price recovery. Investors should be aware that the main determinant of the share price is the fluctuating price of gold, however Avocet (66p) should continue to generate profits from production in Malaysia.
