How experts' 2009 share tips fared
As 2008 turned into 2009, we asked four brokers to give us their stock tips for the 12 months ahead. We look at how they did.

Year review: How did our experts' share tips do in 2009?
Our tipsters were Jeremy Batstone-Carr, director of private client research at Charles Stanley Stockbrokers, Henk Potts, equity strategist, at Barclays Stockbrokers, Gian-Luca Manca, analyst, at UBS AG and Jonathan Jackson, head of equities, at Killik & Co.
Between the four, across three separate features, (read parts one, two and three) they highlighted 21 shares they expected to outperform in 2009.
We are happy to report that over the past 12 months, not a single recommendation has fallen in value, but given that since the March low, markets have raced ahead a good result should have been expected.
The portfolio of 21 tips, the majority of which were plucked from the FTSE 100, is up by a combined 488% over the past 12 months, delivering between them an average rise of no less than 23%.
Over the same period the FTSE 100 is up 22% while the wider market as represented by the FTSE All-Share is ahead by 25%.
Our one dud in the list of 21 is the formerly Aim listed stock, Aero Inventory. The firm went into administration in November and has been involved with investigators from the Serious Fraud Office.
Shareholders in the group, are unlikely to get any cash back. But thankfully the rest of our expert picks had a far better year.
We list the full results below and look at some of the top risers.
