The price is right
When phoning my broker I have noticed three times that the price of the shares has changed after I was given the initial quote. Why? Why doesn't it happen all the time? Would it happen if I traded on the internet? KA, Surbiton.
Tony Hobman, Chief executive of Proshare the organisation that promoted wider share ownership, says: Some brokers may trade only a few times a day so the share price may change between them taking your order and the transaction taking place. When you place an order you accept that the broker will get the best price available at the time of trade. Dealing on the Internet may be a better option if you use a service that trades immediately. Another possible solution is to set up a 'limit order' with the broker which means the trade only goes ahead if the share makes a specific price, but of course that way you risk not trading at all.
