Canada scam
I HAVE a letter from Karl Eisenberg, International Settlements Authority in Canada telling me I have won between £3,500 and £1.2m. I have to claim this by sending a fee of £29.95. Does this sound wise to you? BT, Northampton
Linda Whitney writes: No! The Department of Trade and Industry issued a warning about these letters last month.
It is estimated that between 5,000 and 6,000 households receive scam promotions and schemes through the post every month. Common warning signs of scams include an unsolicited letter, email or telephone call, an invitation to send a processing or management fee to claim a prize or an invitation to send money out of the country, particularly the Netherlands or Canada.
