The wrong pension
MY employer (local authority) took a private company to deal with our payroll from April 2002 but they paid my pension contributions in to the teachers' pension scheme instead of the local government scheme. They say they have corrected this, but how can I check? JB, Croydon.
Des Hamilton of the pensions advisory service OPAS says: Write to the local authority pension scheme and get confirmation, in writing, from them that everything has been put right and your pension entitlement is unaffected by this mistake. Write to London Borough of Croydon Pension Fund, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, CR9 1JL. If everything hasn't been done properly then take the matter up directly with your employer. If that doesn't resolve matters write, with copies of all relevant correspondence, to OPAS, 11 Belgrave Rd, London SW1V 1RB.
