QM2 row passengers get full refund
ANGRY passengers on the troubled Queen Mary 2 are to receive a full refund after its operator cancelled three ports of call.
Cunard managing director Carol Marlow will greet the holidaymakers as they disembark in Rio de Janeiro after they won their battle over compensation.
The liner has been at sea since leaving Florida on 19 January after a propeller accident. It had been scheduled to visit the Caribbean islands of St Kitts and Barbados, and Salvador in Brazil.
Passengers had threatened to hold a 'sit-in' when the liner docked today. They claimed crew waited until they were at sea before informing them the ship would not be stopping at its scheduled destinations.
Cunard had previously offered a 50% refund on the costs of the voyage, not including air fares. But a company spokesman announced it would be giving a full refund to all passengers disembarking in Rio.
He said: 'While we believe our original offer would have been fair compensation, we have decided to make an additional gesture.' He added it had originally been hoped passengers would find 'plenty to enjoy' on board.
