The Royal Family has managed to save £5 million on travel and building maintenance, according to official reports.

Ways they cut down included savings of £2.9 million by replacing two ageing RAF Royal Squadron Wessex helicopters with one modern Sikorsky helicopter leased and operated directly by the Royal Household. Savings of £1.25 million were made through the reduced use by the Royals of aircraft from 32 Royal Squadron and less use of the Royal Train and a reduction in the number of coaches notched up another £350,000.
Now you may not be able to demonstrate that you have cut down on your helicopter use but This Is Money is sure that users have brilliant ideas for saving money.
You may have tips that will help others match the Royals' cut in electricity bills of 36.8%, gas bills of 29.7% and water bills by 65.9% since 1991-92. You may have brilliant ideas to save hard-earned cash in other ways. If so we want to hear them.
The sender of the best cash-saving tip will receive a crate of champagne to celebrate their thrift. And we will publish the best tips to share these ideas on the This Is Money web site.
