Christmas debut for the £1,000 cookbook
A COOKBOOK described as the most expensive in the world has gone on sale for Christmas - priced at £1,000.

The collection was put together by the makers of vintage champagne Dom Perignon. It is bound in sea-green hand polished Galuchat leather sourced from a rare Japanese fish.
Just 30 of the limited edition copies of Dom Perignon Vintage 1998, The Collection have been produced, with the entire £1,000 charged for each going to a selection of UK charities.
The cookbook contains recipes and anecdotes from 35 of Britain's top chefs. Famous names such as Tom Aikens, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Marco Pierre White have contributed recipes, which can all be washed down with the 1998 vintage of Dom Perignon.
A Harrods spokesman said: 'The customer base it will appeal to is comparatively narrow compared to a Jamie Oliver book, for example. But I do think the quality of the book and the type of recipe inside will definitely appeal to somebody who wants the ultimate gift for Christmas - and is a foodie.'
The book is illustrated by artists Sophie von Hellermann and Stephane Gamain, and boasts interviews with a host of famous names, including fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld and actor Sir Roger Moore.
Describing the limited edition cookbook, a Dom Perignon spokesman said: 'We feel it is particularly appropriate to be launched at a time when the UK is being seen as the gourmet capital of the world.'
The limited edition book, plus 2,000 standard editions costing £40 each, will be available from Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. Limited editions signed by Dom Perignon's chef de cave Richard Geoffroy plus the standard editions are also available from wine magazine Decanter. The magazine's editor-at-large Adam Lechmere said: 'It is a nice looking thing and there is a certain realness to it. You can actually imagine using it and using the recipes.'
