Gayle King's very surprising response on being asked about claims she's out at CBS Mornings

Longtime CBS Mornings host Gayle King pushed back on a report claiming she would be booted from the anchor chair.

'All I can say is this - from what I'm being told by everybody inside this building ... is that they want me here, they like the job I'm doing, I like the job I'm doing,' she told TMZ while leaving the network's studio Friday.

'I'll tell you this - I like the job and the people that I work with'

Variety reported on Thursday that King could step down when her contract is up in May to take an unspecified role at the network.

'What I'm hearing in the building is not what I'm reading in the press,' she added on Friday. 'And what I'm not going to do is negotiate in the media.

'All I know is I am here and glad to be here.'

Earlier this year, well-connected sources told the Daily Mail that King's contract would 'most likely' not be renewed when it expires in May.

David Ellison, the CEO of CBS News parent company Paramount, recently installed anti-woke former New York Time opinion editor Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief of the Tiffany Network.

Layoffs hit CBS New hard Wednesday as part of Paramount's plans to axe more than 2,000 staff across the organization.

At CBS, nearly 100 positions are being eliminated, a person familiar with the matter told CNN.

CBS Evening News co-host John Dickerson announced his resignation from the network this week after replacing Norah O'Donnell in July.

King may not be purged from the network entirely, as she may get a new contract to produce specials, similar to what happened to  O'Donnell, insiders told Variety.

'There have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026,' CBS News told the outlet. 'She’s a truly valued part of CBS and we look forward to engaging with her about the future.'

Like CBS Evenings, CBS Mornings ranks in third place among the major networks.
