The 7 kitchen colours that will be everywhere in 2026, according to a top interior designer

Kitchens in 2026 are about more than just cooking – they’re evolving into multi-functional spaces that mix style, comfort and personality. After years of minimalist white and grey schemes, bold colour is making a comeback, with designers encouraging homeowners to experiment with rich tones and muted pastels alike.

At the same time, warmer neutrals and natural textures – from stone countertops to wooden cabinetry – are replacing cold, clinical shades, creating kitchens that feel welcoming, layered and lived-in.

To help us navigate the shades set to take over our kitchens, we asked Cath Beckett, co-founder of British interior design studio Yellow London, to reveal the colours she predicts will be everywhere in 2026.

Burnt terracottas and dramatic reds

Bold accent colours are back – and they’re making a serious statement, adding luxury and depth without overwhelming the space. ‘Introducing bold colours like burnt terracottas and dramatic reds on kitchen cabinetry works well to create a focal point that compliments the natural materials often chosen throughout kitchens such as stone, marble and wood,’ says Beckett. It’s drama without tipping into overpowering.

Warm taupes

Taupe is having a moment – and not the cool, grey-based variety. Beckett explains, ‘I suggest choosing warmer taupes rather than cooler, blue-based taupes because they feel softer and more inviting. Taupes with yellow undertones bring depth and structure to a kitchen without feeling cold, creating living spaces that feel balanced.’ The result is a neutral that’s anything but boring.

Sandy creams and milky whites

Say goodbye to cold, clinical whites

Say goodbye to cold, clinical whites. Warmer neutrals are taking over, bringing a soft, comforting touch to modern kitchens. Beckett notes, ‘Classic colours like sandy cream and milky white remain a popular choice. Cream kitchens can be lifted with a bold accent, like a deep red on cabinetry, or a painted feature to bring a sense of energy to the space. The balance between these neutrals and a pop of vibrancy brings a sense of charm, ensuring the kitchen feels inviting and characterful.’

Soft pinks and sage greens

Muted tones are still very much in play. Sage green is perfect for cabinets, islands or accent walls, while plaster pink is emerging as the ultimate easy-to-live-with neutral. ‘Soft pinks and sage greens are perennial favourites for kitchens. These shades create a calm, welcoming backdrop, with soft greens bringing freshness and pinks adding subtle warmth,’ Beckett says. The result? Kitchens that feel serene, stylish and perfectly Instagram-ready.
