Vogue World's worst dressed: The looks that wouldn't make it into the fashion bible - from Heidi Klum's near-naked bridal look to Miley Cyrus in '80s leather

It was billed as a unique 'one-night only' opportunity to combine high fashion on the runway with the drama of the world's biggest and brightest stars.

But offstage, the Vogue World: Hollywood show saw more fashion fails than successes - despite A-listers doing their best to dress to impress.

Held at the Paramount Pictures Studio lot in Los Angeles, one of the oldest in the world where Sunset Boulevard, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Indiana Jones were filmed, the show should have been the perfect setting for Hollywood glamour.

Despite a promising start with Kendall Jenner going full showgirl on the catwalk in Nicole Kidman's iconic Moulin Rouge costume, stars such as Heidi Klum, Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus missed the mark.

Never one to go for an understated ensemble, model Heidi, 52, turned heads in a near-naked bridal inspired ensemble, flashing her lingerie in a sheer Vivienne Westwood dress.

Despite throwing a white blazer over the top to preserve her modesty, it was her white lacy bra and 80s style Brazilian pants from Intimissimi that stole the show - and reminded anyone who's forgotten that she's a brand ambassador for the Italian lingerie designer.

Meanwhile, Demi Lovato also embraced the naked dressing trend, stepping out in a black bra and briefs under a white lacy dress covered in frills, unfortunately reminiscent of a net curtain.

Miley Cyrus was much more covered up, but in a leather trench coat, matching peaked cap and a white shirt she looked like she'd wandered out of the '80s.

Demi and Heidi weren't the only ones to have opted for a barely-there look. Model Jacob Rott stepped out in a bizarre combination of smart blazer, shirt and tie, with his white briefs on full display.

Golden Globe award winner Taraji P. Henson also opted for a bare legged look - again an unlikely contender for the fashion bible's esteemed pages.

And Canadian actress Inanna Sarkis, 32, risked it all by going for a completely nude look, with sheer material exposing her chest.

Singer Camila Cabello, 28, made a dramatic entrance in a strapless gold Vivienne Westwood gown, pairing a gold corset top with a shimmering metallic skirt.

Gushing about the event on Instagram afterwards, she wrote: 'Repeat after me, I will wear my red heels and I will have a cute time.'

The Havana songstress's voluminous skirt was certainly eye-catching, but not necessarily for the right reasons.

The shiny material, embellished with horizontal slits, was frumpy and puffed out beneath her, dwarfing more elegant details such as a white Prada clutch and bejewelled top.

Other stars outshone by their larger-than-life accessories included Jennifer Hudson, 44, who opted for a bold black and white floral print dress with gold buttons, paired with a matching coat that created a cape-like appearance.

The Vogue World show debuted in New York two and a half years ago and has since been to Paris before returning stateside.

Its theme was celebrating 'the rich conversation between film and fashion' with runway shows inspired by cinematic history.

In March, Anna Wintour, former editor-in-chief at Vogue, said at a press conference: 'Vogue World: Hollywood will be a one-night-only show with a huge cast of models and actors, setting great film costumes next to brilliant fashion collections.

'By mixing fashion and the arts and culture in the centre of a city, and by raising money for a cause, Vogue World has become a runway show-as-rallying cry – a way to fix the attention of a huge global audience, to bring awareness, and sound an unmistakable note of positivity, creativity and hope.'

This year, 100 per cent of ticket proceeds will go to the Entertainment Community Fund, focusing on supporting professionals in the costume industry impacted by the LA wildfires.

Elsewhere at the event, a special tribute was paid to Diane Keaton and her character in the 1977 movie Annie Hall.

Keaton passed away at the age of 79 earlier this month on October 11, following a successful decades-long career in the industry.

At one point, a model walked out to the glow of lights after the sun had set and wore one of the iconic outfits Keaton donned in Annie Hall.

The evening later played host to performances from musical guests, including Gracie Abrams and Doja Cat, who turned heads wearing a custom chainmail dress with dramatic embellishments on her shoulders, per Vogue.

The look notably drew inspiration from Tina Turner's costume from the 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

The singer opted for platinum blonde locks as she sang her track Gorgeous - which is found on her new album Vie.
