My sister had pre-eclampsia, is it hereditary?

My sister suffered from pre-eclampsia when she had her first baby last

year. She was very seriously ill and both she and the baby almost died.

I am now pregnant with my first child and am concerned I may also suffer from

it as my family has a history of high blood pressure.

Can you tell me if

pre-eclampsia is hereditary and if so what precautions I can take?
