Gap years
Many school leavers choose to take a year out before starting a course.
A 'gap year' allows students to travel, work abroad, gain work experience or save money for their tertiary studies.
You can apply for a higher education course in advance and defer entry so the place is available at the end of a year out.
UCAS produce a brochure entitled 'A Year Out'. It is available on 01242 544610.
