T'ai chi
Treatment: Based on Buddhist and Taoist teachings, T'ai chi is not a therapy in the strict sense, but a series of flowing movements, designed to revitalise the body.
How often: Weekly classes, between an hour and 90 minutes long.
Best for: A de-stresser. Aims to promote spiritual and emotional well-being. Suitable for the eldery, people recovering from serious illness and those with joint problems.
How much: From £2 to £10. Some sessions may be subsidised.
Availability: Through health and leisure centres, fitness clubs and adult evening classes.
