Now even HARVESTER is going vegan! Roadside chain famous for its steak, rotisserie chicken and KILOS of ribs releases its plant-based menu

  • Harvester has unveiled a new vegan menu featuring burgers, tagine and curry
  • The plant-based offerings also include a number of mouth-watering desserts
  • Roadside chain has become the latest group to cash in on the rise in veganism

It might be beloved for dishes like steak, rotisserie chicken and kilos of ribs, but Harvester could soon be known for its bean burgers and aubergine tagine.

The roadside restaurant chain has become the latest eatery to cash in on the rise of vegan food by introducing a new plant-based menu.

The five mains include peri peri tofu skewers and a 'Jamaican style katsu curry'. There are also four desserts, with the blackcurrant mousse and vegan sundae among the highlights.

Prices on the main menu start from £6.99 and desserts are available for £3.99. It will be rolled out across the chain's 230 outlets across the UK.

There are also a number of new vegetarian options - as well as choices at the unlimited salad bar.

There has been a spike in the number of restaurants announcing new vegan menus as more Britons than ever before take part in 'Veganuary'.

Last week Gordon Ramsay made headlines when he announced his restaurants were rolling out a range of plant-based dishes, after previously being an outspoken critic of veganism.

Gregg's drew similar attention with its announcement over vegan sausage rolls.

The bakery chain, which sells 1.5 million traditional sausage rolls per week, said the UK's 3.5 million vegans will be able to enjoy a 'next generation' version of its best-selling item.

The vegan version has some 'classic features' of the traditional sausage roll, according to Greggs, including 96 layers of puff pastry – but instead of meat the filling is made with Quorn.
