30-MINUTE FACIAL
Every three months, I get a half-hour facial at my local salon. The main reason I go is for a deep exfoliation, to buff away dead skin and brighten my complexion. I learned what a difference this makes while working in a spa a few years ago. It’s the foundation of my skincare regime.
CREAM CONVERT
I never used to believe in expensive creams. However, I was won over when my daughter introduced me to Elemis skincare — it worked so well, that even her dermatologist asked what she’d been using! So, I’ve swapped my usual £1.50 Boots Essentials Moisturising Cream for a face cream that costs almost £150. It may seem mad, but my skin feels so much plumper and stronger.

STENCIL DON’T PENCIL
I’ve got very fair eyebrows, which have thinned with age. The best way to add definition is with a stencil — not a pencil. My favourite is the Christian Semi-Permanent Eyebrow Make-up Kit (£25, feelunique.com). It comes in three shapes, which you apply over your brows and fill in with a powder. The results are accurate, long-lasting and cover greys well.
JUICING POWER
Last year, I lost two stone in eight months, when I juiced my own fruit and vegetables for two meals a day. I followed Jason Vale’s Juice Yourself Slim plan (£10.99, amazon.co.uk): the Superjuice (pineapple, apples, spinach, cucumber, lime, celery and ginger) was particularly energising.
CONFIDENCE CLASS
As you get older, it’s important to boost your self-esteem and stay positive. I’m often complimented on this — but it wasn’t always the case. I used to be very shy, until I attended a confidence-building workshop for work. After three days of role play activities to learn communication skills for handling difficult situations, my peers said that I was the strongest one there!
