'I have been crying so much lately': Jules Sebastian on getting emotional about her firstborn starting school

  • The mum-of-two said she had no idea she was going to be 'so emotional' about it
  • Both she and husband Guy also posted tributes to son Hudson before first day
  • Jules, Guy and their son Archie, 3, were all on hand that day to wave goodbye
  • She revealed her biggest piece of advice to mums is 'give yourself a break'

She recently watched as her five-year-old went off for his first day of school, and now Jules Sebastian has revealed that it's been hard watching her firstborn grow up.

The mother-of-two, who is married to pop star Guy Sebastian, revealed she's been tearing up more often after watching Hudson take his first step toward adulthood.

'I have been crying so much lately!' she told 9Honey. 'I had no idea I was going to be so emotional about it, I'm such a sook!'

Both Jules and Guy posted emotional Instagram posts about Hudson's first day of school back in February.

Jules posted a photo of the labels with Hudson's name that she had ordered, telling fans she was going to stick them on 'everything he owns'.

'One more sleep till big boy school,' she added, including the hashtags 'Not coping' and 'my baby'.

Guy chose to post a throwback snap of Hudson when he was just a newborn to celebrate the milestone.

'I can't believe this tiny little angel started school today,' he wrote in the caption. 'A small chapter over and a whole new one has begun.'

'Didn't think I'd get teary but I may or may not have sprung a little leak. Go Hudson James!'

It was a family affair on Hudson's very first day, with Jules, Guy and their three-year-old son Archie all on hand to see him off.

Although one son is now off at school, Jules - who works as a stylist, lifestyle blogger and is the new face of Woolworths Voeu skincare line - still has her hands full.

But Jules said her most important piece of advice to fellow mums is to 'give yourself a break' sometimes.

'Don't be so hard on yourself and try not to beat yourself up for feeling like you haven't done it all,' she told 9Honey.

'You are actually amazing, even if there are still things to do and you feel like you haven't lived up to your own standards.'

Jules recommends that mums try and take a minute out of their day to compliment themselves on something they've done.

And she revealed that her own top de-stressing trick is to simply ask herself: 'What's the worst that can happen?'
