Fashion in five with...MALAIKA FIRTH
This 19-year-old model made headlines this summer as the new face of Prada – she’s the first black model to front a campaign for the famous fashion house since Naomi Campbell in 1994. Her big break came when she was signed by London’s Premier Model Management; now she’s the one to watch this fashion month.
Top style rule? Wear colour. But don’t just mix and match any old colours –that seems to be a trend at the moment, but I think it’s a hard one to get right!
On your wish list for this season? A backless dress from Burberry Prorsum.
Outfit for a hot date? A really long, elegant dress with my hair tied up high and neat. You should always dress up on a date, right?
Current favourite hangout? Up in the skies when I am flying. I’ve been all over with jobs recently – Paris, Germany, the US. My favourite view is from somewhere above the clouds.
Your inspiration? Models of the moment such as Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn – I’ve seen how hard they work. It’s tough making it to the top in modelling. Being successful is about working harder than anyone else.
