A mom's impressive costume creation after her young son asked to be a fart for Halloween has left the internet in hysterics.

Back in 2023, Charntel Wright expected her five-year-old son, Arlo, to want to be something like a villain or a superhero for the spooky holiday.

But instead, he had his heart set on something else: a fart.

Determined to make her little boy's request come true, Wright got to work on creating the perfect fart costume.

After hours of work using all sorts of materials, Wright crafted a costume that resembled a gas cloud for her little boy.

When she shared a video of him in the costume to social media it went viral, leaving thousands across the globe equally impressed at her craftmanship and in shambles over the final result.

While speaking to People magazine about it recently, Wright explained: 'When we were scrolling through costume ideas, we came across a little boy in America who had gone as a fart a few years earlier.

'Arlo thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen. That was it. Decision made.

'No super heroes, no spooky villains - just pure, unfiltered flatulence. So I got to work figuring out how on earth I was going to make a fart wearable.'

There weren't any options to buy online. so Wright knew she'd have to make it herself.

She hot glued 'several rolls of tulle' in brown, yellow and green all over a shirt and hat, 'layering and fluffing' the fabric 'until he looked like a full-bodied, three-dimensional puff of wind.'

She also got him an accompanying fart machine because she felt it wouldn't be 'truly complete without sound effects.'

'I ordered a remote-controlled fart machine and hid the speaker in his pocket. I kept the remote. For maximum comedic timing,' she recalled.

She explained that the now-seven-year-old has 'never been one to follow the crowd' and was ecstatic with how it came out.

On Halloween night, she said he felt like a celebrity because he got so much attention over the original costume from other kids in the neighborhood.

'As Arlo walked past crowds or knocked on doors, I'd press the remote and trigger a very dramatic sound effect,' she shared.

'The laughter was immediate. Children, parents, grandparents...everyone was cracking up.

'People kept saying they'd never seen anything like it. Arlo thought he was a celebrity.'

Each year when the holiday rolls around the video resurfaces online and goes viral again, and Wright is enthralled by the online response.

'I think everyone was quietly excited to live vicariously through a small boy dressed as flatulence,' she joked.
