Chloe Sevigny has sparked outrage after her Halloween costume of a dead Princess Diana resurfaced online.
In 1999, two years after Princess Diana's death, Chloe, now 50, decided to dress up as the late royal at a special bash hosted by model Kirsty Hume and actor Donovan Leitch at Lot 61 in New York City.
For the costume, the famous face wore a camel-colored blazer with the words 'Die Di' embroidered on the lapel.
She had red blood dripping down her chin and ear, as well as red bruising around her eyes.
Social media users have been left appalled at Chloe's costume after photos reappeared online with many slamming her 'exceptionally poor taste.'
Taking to Reddit, one said: 'I cannot believe I have never seen Chloe Sevigny's costume before. It's in such incredibly poor taste I can hardly believe it actually happened.'
'She doesn't even look like Princess Diana though,' another wrote. 'Like not only is it exceptionally poor taste, it's also just a sh** costume.
'Imagine having celebrity money to do Halloween with and being that cr** at coming up with and executing a costume. Embarrassing.'

A third slammed: 'It's so weird that these celebs keep making terrible offensive choices and STILL keep getting hired for jobs. Is there an actor shortage?'
A fourth continued: 'Seriously. She needed the lapel of her sh***y coat to identify who the f**k she was supposed to be. I only got the idea it was meant to be Diana based off of how she tried to style her hair.'
On Instagram, another simply wrote: 'That is disrespectful.'
'Nah. Di didn't deserve this,' a sixth said while another branded it a 'cruel joke.'
It's not clear whether Chloe has ever responded to backlash over the costume.
Princess Diana died following a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris in 1997 aged 36. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
The late royal's companion Dodi Fayed and their driver were both found dead inside the car.
Her death prompted an international outpouring of grief and her televised funeral was watched by an estimated 2.5 billion people worldwide.

Chloe isn't the only celebrity to have shocked with their bad taste at Halloween.
In 2011, Neil Patrick Harris hosted a party which had a food display designed to look like 'the corpse of Amy Winehouse' just three months after the Rehab singer's death aged 27.
The graphic display centered around a mangled figure designed to look like the late singer, with a cigarette in her mouth and black beehive hairdo.
A card describing the display noted that it included 'beef ribs, pulled pork, [and] chicken sausage in a spicy BBQ sauce.'
Neil apologized for the move in 2022 when an image resurfaced online, saying that it was 'regrettable then, and it remains regrettable now.'
