Would you wear a gold peplum?

PROBLEM
‘I recently lost my father, who I’d been caring for while studying for a fine art degree. I’d just chuck on jeans and a jumper to get through the days. Now I’m organising my annual charity ball and want something showstopping to wear. I’ve always loved fashion.’

SOLUTION
Amanda wanted to make a statement but was running low on inspiration. My advice was to throw out the rule book – partywear doesn’t have to mean sequin dresses. Lots of people think a peplum top is hard to wear, but I’d say give it a go and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. This one is flattering and dramatic, while the white shirt adds a tailored touch. The gold brocade allows for experimenting with metallic accessories, too.

AMANDA'S VERDICT
‘A peplum is so retro! But I feel like all the confidence I had when I was younger has flooded back. The co-ord is so on-trend, but also feels age appropriate layered with the shirt, and Steph kept in mind that I don’t like to show my arms. It will be the first time I’ve worn a bright outfit to the charity bash, and what better to go for than gold.’
