Anthropologie's sell-out Bottega-inspired bag is back, with brand new colours available for autumn
Few accessories have such universal celebrity approval as Bottega Veneta's Jodie handbag. Even if you don’t recognise the name, we’re willing to bet you know the woven leather piece we’re talking about, which has been slung over the shoulders of stylish celebs from Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner to Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon.
The lambskin leather bag is undeniably chic. Available in an extensive range of neutrals (and a few special editions like baby pink and lime green), it’s the signature knot that elevates it from a pretty but basic minibag to 2024’s must-wear style.
The one thing we’re not quite so keen on? Bottega’s prices. The cheapest mini Jodie starts at £1,170, which rises to £3,140 for the small version and a staggering £15,750 for special editions. Unless we can sell our house and live out of it, we won’t be spending that much on a bag anytime soon.
All, however, is not lost. Enter Anthropologie’s Larissa bag, which carries a strong resemblance to its designer inspiration. It comes in pretty much all the same neutral colourways, has the same woven pattern, and even has a similar knotted strap for that 2024 twist.
The major difference is the price: Anthropologie’s standard bag is £88 – a whopping £3,050 cheaper than Bottega’s – while an oversized version is available for a very reasonable £135. The best bit about the bigger bag? It’s roomy enough to fit even the chunkiest of work laptops, as well as everything else you need to chuck in there for the day. Result!
The high-street store has just restocked the sell-out bag in all its original colourways, as well as a few new autumnal shades. There’s a very on-trend khaki, an emerald green and a rich chocolate, our personal favourite. You’ll want to shop quickly – the Larissa never sticks around long.
Still a bit pricey? New Look has its own great version (avec knot!) on sale for £34.99. The colours don’t range quite as much as those of Anthropologie’s alternatives, but the washed denim one would definitely make a cute bag for all your upcoming festive bashes. Plus you can definitely pass it as a genuine Bottega to all your friends. We won’t tell if you don’t.
