Speed read: How to wear rope necklaces
Dramatic: Big rope necklaces graced the catwalk at Proenza Schouler's fashion show in New York
Necklaces and bracelets fashioned from rope might once have been suitable only for a casual beach look, but this season they’ve hit the catwalk.
Dior, Cavalli and Proenza Schouler all created braided delights in an array of vibrant colours and textures, with beads and metallics to give them an original edge.
Jessica Alba and Hilary Duff are big fans of the rope craze — but don’t feel you have to tie up huge sums in order to keep up with the celebs.
Prices on the High Street range from just £10 to £50 — though couture designs can stretch beyond the £1,000 mark.
You could say it’s money for old rope.
HOW TO WEAR THEM
- Fans of boho chic should team a long rope necklace with a maxi dress and flip-flops.
- City slickers should double wrap for a touch of sophisticated glamour, and add shorts and a crisp white shirt for a preppy take on the look.
- Make the most of this season’s bright colours by pairing the rope necklace with classic summer tailoring in demure shades.
