Ageless style: Festive red
Wardrobe staples for everyone by fashion stylist Arabella Greenhill
The winter high street may be a sea of beige, brown, navy and black, but if anything has the power to lift that it’s the festive season’s favourite hue: red. And it needn’t involve sequins, glitter or Lurex: simply pairing it with pink, as we’ve done here, gives this bold colour extra Christmas glamour.

Festive red
- An all-red look is one hell of a statement, but colour-blocking will deliver equal wow factor. Keep things tonal with bright pinks and burgundies and wear the darkest shade on your lower half.
- A red piece with a bold silhouette will have the same impact as something sparkly. Try a red A-line skirt for statement occasionwear or, for an everyday hit of colour, an oversized red coat.
- Prefer just red? Make sure you find your ideal shade. Pale skin suits more orangey tones, while darker complexions work well with bluer shades of red.
