Think a wardrobe stocked full of the latest clothing from the world’s best international designers is the sole reserve of the jet-set elite?
If the High Street’s latest collaborations are anything to go by, it might be time to rethink that.
This summer, High Street favourites such as Mango and & Other Stories, alongside some lesser-known budget-friendly brands, have launched collections in collaboration with some of the best under-the-radar luxury fashion houses from around the globe.
The result? A democratisation of international high fashion, and just in time for summer — whether you’re spending it globetrotting or not.
An international wardrobe with no air miles or foreign currency required? Yes please.
Greek designer Mary Katrantzou has paired up with Lipsy to create an exclusive range of clothing available via Next. Dress, £52, next. co.uk
Mary Katrantzou x Lipsy
Dubbed the ‘Queen of Print’, Greek designer Mary Katrantzou seeks in her designs to ‘create a symbiosis between the world of digital technology and traditional craftsmanship’.
Thanks to her collaboration with Lipsy, her digitally-created prints – works of art in themselves due to their opulence and detail – are now available on an exclusive range of clothing available to shop via high street chain Next.
Traditional florals are reimagined in surrealist forms perfect for the modern wedding guest.
A Mary Katrantzou dress at Harrods will set you back over £1,000, while her Next designs start at £52. And the prints are near identical in their intricacy.
La Veste x La Redoute
Every Spanish girl's favourite brand La Veste has teamed up with La Redoute. Jacket, £145, and trousers, £120, laredoute. co.uk
Want to get in on the action of every Spanish fashion girl’s favourite brand without paying hefty import duties?
Shirt, £120, laredoute.co.uk
Look no further than La Veste, which has collaborated with La Redoute - France’s answer to Next - on a super chic summer collection.
Founded in 2018 by the ultimate cool-girl duo – stylist Blanca Miro and designer Maria de la Orden – La Veste has developed a cult following amongst Spain’s chicest women.
Inspired by vintage, La Veste’s collaboration with La Redoute features sailor-collar shirts, a cherry-red collarless jacket and cropped trouser suit that Jackie O might have worn, plus Twiggy-esque mini dresses.
Welcome to the ‘60s, continental style.
Simon Miller x Mango
LA-based brand Simon Miller has collaborated with high-street favourite Mango. Swimming costume, £59.99; trousers, £79.99; and sunglasses, £89.99, mango.com
In a fashion landscape dominated by brands adhering to the minimalist aesthetic of ‘quiet luxury’, LA-based brand Simon Miller is a welcome antidote.
A playful aesthetic that’s bold enough to be exciting yet timeless enough to be worn for many years, Simon Miller is a Mod’s heaven.
Bag, £59.99, mango.com
Retro silhouettes and bright colours abound, and the brand’s collaboration with Mango stays true to this identity.
Refreshingly, the brand hasn’t compromised on responsible fabric as part of its collaboration with a retail giant - many of the pieces are made from recycled and natural materials.
A dress will set you back £89.99 - a snip compared to the £475 dresses currently in Miller’s main collection.
Design, affordability and ethics? A rare union.
Farm Rio x Sézane
Founded as a market stall in Rio in 1997, Farm Rio has since blossomed into one of Brazil’s most recognisable brands, stocked at the world’s most luxurious fashion stores, including Liberty and Net-A-Porter.
And now, Brazilian high fashion has been democratised courtesy of French mid-market brand Sezane, known for their urban-meets-boho aesthetic.
The feminine, wearable shapes typical of Sezane combine with the riot of colour and print synonymous with Farm Rio to make a collection that makes statement fashion approachable.
Our favourite? The Mara dress (£175). Looking like an ice lolly has never been so chic.
More of a minimalist? The collection includes jewellery for those looking to just dip their toe in exhibitionism.
Sindiso Khumalo x & Other Stories
Cape Town-based architect-turned-designer Sindiso Khumalo and & Other Stories have partnered to create a fantastic range of summer clothing. Midi dress, £95, stories.com
Embroidery and structure are at the heart of Cape Town-based architect-turned-designer Sindiso Khumalo’s designs, and her collaboration with & Other Stories is no exception.
Expect smocking, crochet and ruffles a-plenty, with dresses in this collaboration costing under £100 - a bargain compared to those in her collection, which can set you back up to £590.
