Clarifications and corrections
Paul Singer, Gordon Singer and Elliott Advisors: Following an article on 26 March about the takeover of GKN , we have been asked to make clear that the claim that the founder of the Elliott Advisors hedge fund, Paul Singer, and his son Gordon Singer, were branded ‘financial terrorists’ was made by the ex-president of Argentina during a dispute over debts owed to the firm. We also accept that an Argentinian naval vessel was not deprived of power for vital services by Elliott Advisors during the dispute, and that an allegation by a business rival that Paul Singer wore Native American head-dress and performed Singin’ In The Rain in a public fountain during the 2006 World Cup is untrue. We apologise for any contrary impression given.
