Breast implants ban my be lifted
Scientists are expected to announce whether they recommend lifting a U.S. ban on silicone breast implants.
Such implants were banned 11 years ago in America because of fears that leaks could cause serious diseases such as lupus or cancer.
The claims have never been scientifically proven and the implants remain legal in Britain and Europe.
Manufacturers have told the independent panel of scientists, appointed by America's Food and Drug Administration, the implants are safe.
But the National Organisation of Women has called for the ban to remain until longterm studies are completed.
One woman, who had her implants removed, said: "I live in pain every day. We are tired of all the suffering."
