Trump heaps praise on Leavitt's lips once again
President Donald Trump made yet another comment about Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt 's lips this week - as he told the press that the 28-year-old would 'never' be replaced. Trump made the comments about Leavitt's 'machine gun' lips as Air Force one departed from Israel on Monday following the release of the 20 living hostages held in Gaza following the Hamas terror attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023 as part of the Middle East peace deal.
He spoke in the Knesset for more than an hour as he declared the 'long and painful nightmare' was over for Israelis and Palestinians and called for Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be pardoned ahead of an upcoming corruption trial.
And, after getting back on board Air Force One heading to Egypt to meet with other world leaders, Trump spoke to the press gaggle for 15 minutes, where he went from talking about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Leavitt's pout, according video obtained by The Daily Beast. 'How's Karoline doing? Is she doing good? Should Karoline be replaced?' Trump asked one reporter.
'That's up to you, sir,' the reporter responded. 'It'll never happen,' Trump said, as some in the gaggle praised the Press Secretary. 'That face... and those lips, they move like a machine gun, right?' he added. It's not the first time that the President has compared Leavitt's lips to that of a machine gun, either. He made the analogy during an August interview with Newsmax.
'She's become a star. It's that face. It's that brain. It's those lips, the way they move,' Trump said at the time. 'They move like she's a machine gun,' the President continued. Leavitt has been working with Trump for many years. She initially joined the office of presidential correspondence , helping process and reply to incoming mail, after graduating from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire in 2019.
From there she joined the communications team under McEnany towards the end of Trump's first term. When he left office she went to work for high-profile New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, before making her own run for Congress in New Hampshire, the state where she grew up scooping ice cream at her parents' store. Her effort to become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress fell 15,000 votes short in the 2022 midterms, when an expected red wave failed to materialize.
She was back in the Trump fold within weeks, joining an allied group before linking up with the campaign itself earlier this year, becoming Trump's national press secretary and quickly becoming a fixture on television. Since taking the helm as Press Secretary, she has not been afraid to take on members of the media during her press conferences, like CNN's Kaitlan Collins. Leavitt is also a mom to one-year-old son, Nicholas Robert, whom she welcomed with husband Nicholas Riccio, 59, last July.
The youngest press secretary in American history has largely kept her private life out of the spotlight, but revealed that she met her husband during her congressional campaign in 2022. She opened up in an interview with Megyn Kelly about how the romance first began, sharing: 'I met my husband during my Congressional Campaign. A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband.
'I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.' The Megyn Kelly Show host then asked if there had been any thought in her mind of 'I can't date him, he's 59 and I'm 27?' Leavitt confirmed that she had dealt with those initial doubts about how the 32-year age gap would impact the relationship - but so far, things seem to be going well.
'Yes, of course. I mean it's a very atypical love story but he's incredible,' she gushed. 'He is my greatest supporter, he's my best friend and he's my rock.' The political aide continued: 'He's built a very successful business himself so now he's fully supportive of me building my success in my career. The couple got engaged on Christmas Day in 2023.
