Director's Message
Welcome to Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), where our mission is to empower the individuals and families in our community by fostering resilience, promoting recovery, and embracing the belief that You Belong Here.
At BHRS, we are committed to creating a system of care that addresses the mental health and substance use challenges facing our diverse community. Our programs are designed to support individuals across all stages of life—children, youth, adults, and older adults. Whether through crisis intervention, substance use treatment, prevention and early intervention efforts, or the many services provided by our dedicated teams, we are here to help individuals find hope and healing.
A community thrives when every member feels valued, supported, and heard. That is why collaboration is central to the work we do. Together with our community partners—schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and local organizations—we aim to provide equitable access to services that strengthen the well-being of all.
This work is deeply personal to each of us at BHRS. For many, it is shaped by our own stories or the lives of the individuals we serve and who inspire us daily. I am continually reminded of the power of connection, resilience, and the strength of our collective purpose. Every story we hear and every life we touch reaffirms why we do this work.
As Director of BHRS, I am proud to lead a team that is unwavering in its commitment to serving Merced County. Together, we are building a foundation of care and support that not only meets immediate needs but fosters lasting change.
Thank you for visiting our page and for your interest in the work we do. If you or someone you know needs support, please do not hesitate to reach out. You belong here, and we are here for you.
Sincerely,
Kimiko Vang, DSW, LCSW
