Merced County Library's Summer Reading Challenge is an annual program offering incentives for reading as well as a variety of exciting events throughout the county. Details for next year's challenge will be posted as they become available.

- How do I earn virtual badges and digital tickets?

Virtual Badges = Digital Tickets
One virtual badge is equal to one digital ticket. Every time you earn a Virtual Badge, your Digital Ticket count goes up by one. There are two ways to earn Virtual Badges/Digital Tickets:
1. Read for 5 days, for at least 20 minutes a day. (Your reading days don’t have to be in a row!)
2. Attend one of these Summer Events! (Don’t forget to log your attendance after enjoying the event.)

- How do I log my reading and program attendance?

- I forgot to log my reading on Beanstack. What do I do?

Reading can be logged retroactively on Beanstack. For example, if you forget to log your Monday reading, you can always do it on Tuesday. Just make sure the date is right!
Don’t forget: the only dates that count for Summer Reading Prizes are June 6 to August 5. The last day to log your Summer Reading is August 14.
- Do I have to read five days in a row for it to count?

No. The days you read do not have to be consecutive.

Summer Reading Challenge starts on June 6 and ends on August 5.
- What are the prizes for the Summer Reading Challenge and the raffle?

There are two types of prizes you can earn: Book Prizes* and Grand Prizes.
Win Fun Prizes! Every virtual badge you earn (5 days of reading) counts as a digital raffle ticket. Enter your raffle tickets for the possibility to win awesome prizes like Legos, Duplos, and other cool building block sets! (Winners will be announced at the end of the summer.)
Earn Free Books! Every two virtual badges you earn (10 days of reading) qualify you to receive a FREE book, for up to three books total! (You can continue earning badges every 5 days, even after earning all three book rewards.)

- How are Grand Prize winners chosen?

There are four age groups for Grand Prize Winners: 0-5 yrs, 6-11 yrs, 12-18 yrs, and 19+yrs.
Winners will be chosen for each age group and library location.
Enter your Digital Tickets into the Raffle of your chosen library for a chance to win the Grand Prize.
The last day to enter into the Raffle is Aug. 14.
- When and how will winners receive their Grand Prize?

Notifications will be sent to Grand Prize Winners August 17-22. Winners will then have until September 12 to pick up their prizes in-person at their local library.
- Is there a time limit to redeem Summer Reading Challenge prizes?

Yes. Book prizes must be redeemed by August 29.
Grand Prizes must be redeemed by September 12.
