










Zahid Mahmood is a Video Producer for CNN, based in London. He contributes to CNN’s breaking news and newsgathering operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Mahmood also produces in the field for CNN, pitching and executing stories for CNN’s platforms, with a particular focus on stories from the Middle East. He produced all of CNN Gaza Producer Ibrahim Dahman’s reports from the war-torn enclave in October 2023 at the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.
In 2025, he produced a digital-first piece highlighting the trauma Palestinian children face under ongoing Israeli airstrikes. The video component amassed over 8 million views across Instagram and TikTok.
In 2021, Mahmood traveled to Europe with CNN Senior International Correspondent Ivan Watson for an exclusive interview with a former police officer who took part in the brutal regime against ethnic Uyghurs in Xinjiang, China. For the report, Mahmood and team were nominated for an Emmy Award.
He previously served as an International Planning Editor and was part of the CNN team which won an Emmy Award and a duPont-Columbia Award in 2022 for outstanding news coverage of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He was also part of the CNN team that won an Emmy Award in 2023 for outstanding news coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.
Mahmood began his career at CNN in 2018 as a digital news intern, and has since worked across the network’s international newsgathering teams in various broadcast production and operation roles.
