Teele Rebane is an award winning open-source intelligence producer for CNN International, based at the network’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.

She specializes in investigations that combine traditional reporting with digital forensic techniques to tell impactful stories, with a focus on transnational crime and human rights in the Asia-Pacific region.

Rebane also contributes to CNN’s breaking news coverage when open-source investigative techniques are required, providing rapid research, video verification and geolocation, satellite imagery analysis, and fact-checking. Since joining CNN in 2021 she has extensively covered Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, conflict in the Middle East and the civil war in Myanmar.

Rebane has led the network’s coverage of the global crypto scam industry with reporting from the Thailand-Myanmar border and the US. She has also uncovered an organ trafficking network in Myanmar and a cult-like organization that abused children in Malaysia.

Previously, she covered the Hong Kong protests in 2019 and interned at Al Jazeera.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Hong Kong.
