Alexandra Skores is a CNN reporter/writer covering transportation.

Skores previously worked as an aviation reporter at The Dallas Morning News in Dallas, Texas covering airlines, air travel and the aerospace industry. She wrote about American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, navigating national attention brought by two of the world’s largest air carriers located in Texas, and has interviewed several of the industry’s CEOs and public figures. Skores also led coverage of the 50th anniversary of DFW Airport, the business of Dallas-Fort Worth’s airlines and airports, including labor relations among aviation unions, and chronicled a series of stories on an activist investor’s campaign against Southwest Airlines, ultimately leading to a major leadership shakeup and changes at one of the region’s most historic airlines.

Skores began her career in news as an intern in local newspapers at The Dallas Morning News, The Oregonian in Portland, Oregon and The Gazette in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She joined The Dallas Morning News as a business reporter covering breaking news in 2022, where she also covered the business of sports, writing about the region’s highest paid CEOs and covering quarterly earnings calls for high-profile companies in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Skores is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she was the former managing editor of the student-ran newspaper, The Daily Iowan. Skores is based in Washington, DC and is originally from Chicago, IL.
