Notion Is For Everyone
I’ve been a note-taker and list-maker for as long as I can remember.
And I’ve used pretty much every method, from journals and notebooks to scrap paper and Post-Its, from Evernote to Trello to Asana to Notes to OneNote, in my quest to find the ultimate informational organizational system.
Because what I realized, as I embraced my zone of genius as a creative strategist, is that it’s so important to have systems in place that let your creativity flow.
Then I discovered Notion and everything changed.
Finally! A place where I can keep lists in the most organized, searchable, and emoji-filled way I’ve ever encountered. My hopes, dreams, travel ideas, quotes I love, shows I want to watch, essays, meal plans, and shopping reminders — in one place without friction.
Science has proven that we can only store four things in our short-term memory at once. So why fight that??
I have a really difficult time convincing people they would benefit from using the Notion app in their everyday lives. And it really frustrates me that this is such a hard sell, when Notion has changed my life entirely for the better in so. many. ways.
Maybe it’s because at first glance, Notion looks like something only businesses should be using. Maybe it seems like it’s too extra, too much, too powerful for a regular person.
“I don’t need it,” they tell me. “I just put everything in Notes.” Or “It looks too complicated for me to understand.” But can I say something with all the love and kindness and honesty I can muster?
You’re wrong.
Notion isn’t too complicated for you — don’t sell yourself short! Don’t think your daily tasks, to-dos, and thoughts aren’t important or valuable enough to warrant a system that actually works.
You deserve to have less mental clutter and more peace of mind knowing that the information you need is there. And findable when you need it.
And I swear Notion can get you there.
So what is Notion, exactly? It’s an app. You can use it on your computer, your phone, and your tablet. The free plan is indeed FREE for a single user as of October 2025.
Like Notes or any basic note-taking app, you can use it for jotting down reminders and to-do lists of any sort. But what’s better than Notes is that everything can be filed, sorted, and categorized for super easy searchability.
And the bigger bonus of Notion is that you can create wonderful, gorgeous, intuitively usable databases embedded into each page. These are simple to make and will save your life when you need to actually remember something and don’t have to yank it out of the deep dark recesses of your brain.
I use Notion for truly everything, including:
- keeping track of my workouts with a database of all my favorite online classes
- planning all our road trips and travel adventures
- weekly household reminders that ping me on my phone, so I make sure to remember to water my cactus collection
- running the household meal planning calendar (which I’ve been using since 2022, so I can tell you it works like a dream.)
And of course I use it for all my writing and creative projects, and my client work too, but all of these elements can be adapted and customized for anyone who needs them.
You don’t have to be a business owner or writer or engineer or finance bro to understand Notion. You can be whatever you want to be and Notion can help make you better, however you choose.
I really want you to fall in love with Notion too and see how easy it can make your life.
