What is the CalAssist Mortgage Fund?

The CalAssist Mortgage Fund is a state program that provides much-needed relief from mortgage payments for families whose homes are destroyed or severely damaged to the point they have been deemed uninhabitable as the result of a California disaster.

• Grants paid directly to your mortgage servicer
• Funds are limited, apply today

Who is Eligible?

The program is open to eligible Californians whose homes are destroyed or severely damaged to the point they have been deemed uninhabitable as the result of a California disaster.

You may eligible if:

• 

  Your primary residence is destroyed or severely damaged to the point it has been deemed uninhabitable as the result of a qualified disaster that occurred between Jan. 1, 2023, and Jan. 8, 2025

  • Examples include the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires and the Park Fire in Butte, Tehama and Plumas counties
• 

  You are below the program's income limits

• 

  You have a mortgage, reverse mortgage, or HELOC

• 

  Your primary residence is a 1-4 unit single-family home, condo or permanently affixed manufactured home

How to Apply

• PREPARE

  For the impacted property, gather your mortgage statement, bank statements, last utility bill before the disaster, and proof of income (i.e. paystubs, tax returns, or unemployment documents). Additional documents may be required to review your application, so monitor your email closely.

• APPLY

  Complete the easy online application. You can save your progress and return later.

• TRACK

  Check your email regularly for updates or requests for additional information. Application review may take several weeks.

Grants will be awarded to eligible applicants as long as funds are available. Once all funds have been awarded, no additional applications will be approved.
