35 Incredibly Fun Drinking Games You've Never Heard Of

Just in case you need another reason to drink.

Beer pong isn't the only drinking game you can play at a party. Although it's undoubtedly a classic, it can start to get a little played out. But that's no reason to drop drinking games altogether. They're a great way to inject some levity and competitive spirit into any gathering.

For those of you out there looking to bring a different (but still very #lit) vibe to your next social gathering, here's a list of fun drinking games perfect for any occasion. There's probably a few here you've never even heard of!

Most of these games can be played just as well with water or any non-alcoholic beverage, but here's a list of great non-drinking party games just in case.

1. Drinking and Driving

Two people play "Mario Kart" side by side

2. Horse Racing

"You need a deck of cards and a table.

Lay out the Aces of each suit one above the other on the table vertically. Shuffle the rest of the deck and set it aside. Each of the suits is a 'horse.' Name each horse.

Each person in the room bets a certain number of drinks, maybe between 1 and 5, on the horse (suit) they think will win. Proceed to flip the top card of the remaining deck and place the card beside the Ace of the corresponding suit. Do this again and again until one horse (suit) has reached 10 cards, meaning it has won the race. Anyone who bet on that horse (suit) dishes out the amount of drinks they bet, and anyone who bet on another horse takes the amount of drinks they bet. Collect all the cards except the Aces, shuffle, and repeat. Make sure you get someone who can sell the excitement of the race as they flip the cards. A room full of drunk people can get pretty rowdy as horses gain and lose the lead."

3. Drink or Dare

4. What Do You Meme? Drinking Edition

Meme card games are plenty of fun sober, but they can be even more hilarious when you're drunk. For this game, take any of your fav meme packs and deal a card out (unseen) to each participating player. Have everyone take turns showing their card to the group, and if their expression or actions are matching the vibe of the meme card, they have to drink. If it isn't matching, have them recreate it, then let the group judge if they did a good enough job. If not, they have to drink double!

5. Balls to the Wall

Not a competition like Beer Pong, but this one packs a punch and also requires some athletic skills. Using a strong adhesive, like good tape or glue or sticky tabs, attach Solo cups to a large piece of posterboard and write down dares or drinking challenges underneath each cup, like "Waterfall," "Take a shot," "Never Have I Ever," "Swap cups with someone," etc.–whatever you like! Take turns shooting pong balls into the cups and completing the dares on them. If you miss, you drink!

6. Minesweeper

7. Rage Cage (also called Stack Cup)

"Beer pong but with loads of cups, no teams, and a sh*t mix in the middle.

Rules:

An entire pack of plastic cups is laid out, each cup is filled with an amount of beer. The middle cup is filled with everyone's stuff, creating a sh*t mix. There should be space around the entire table for everyone to gather around.

To start the game, two players at opposite ends of the circle around the cups take a cup each, down the contents, and try to bounce a ping pong ball off the table and into their cup. They keep going until they manage it.

Once you have bounced your ball into your cup, you move the cup clockwise around the ring for the next player to do the same.

If one of the cups catches up to the other, meaning a player has two cups, they pass their original cup on, take another cup from the middle, down the contents, stack the new cup on top of the cup they still have, and continue to try and bounce their ball in.

If you bounce the ball into your cup on the first attempt, you get to give your cup to any player in the circle, meaning you can give it to the person behind the other cup in an attempt to speed up the drinking.

The loser is the one who has to drink the middle cup.

Balls that land in a cup not yet in play result in that cup being downed by the offender and added to the stack regardless of where the second cup is in the circle."

8. The Pizza Box Game

9. Buzz

Probably the easiest game on this list, Buzz just has one rule: don't say the number 7 or any of its multiples (14, 21, 28, 35, and so on). To play, you go around the room with each person saying consecutive numbers out loud but skipping 7, 14, 21, etc. If anyone messes up and says any of those numbers, everyone has to shout, "Buzz!" Anyone who doesn't shout has to drink with the person who messed up. It's only one rule, but it gets harder to remember the tipsier you get.

10. Where's The Water?

11. Sixes

You'll need a dice for this one, and six drinking vessels of ascending size order — the smallest can be a shot glass and the largest can be a small bowl, for instance. Each cup will have a different drink (definitely use a mixer for the bigger containers), and then you take turns rolling the dice and drinking whichever number it lands on.

12. Truth Or Drink

Julia Louis-Dreyfus pours a bottle of red wine intensely into a large wine glass while wearing a patterned top in a scene from a TV show with a "TV Land" label

13. Roxanne

Put on "Roxanne" by The Police, and drink every time you hear the word "Roxanne." Simple enough, and you can do it with a lot songs. "WAP" by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion is a good option too.

14. Game of Thrones

Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones holds a goblet and says, “Drink.”

15. I Drink And I Know Things

Yes, it sounds like that Tyrion Lannister quote from Game of Thrones, but this game actually has nothing to do with the show. It's a trivia game that starts when one person says "I drink and I know," followed by a piece of trivia they know. For example, you might say "I drink and I know the square root of 81." Then everybody blurts out the answer, and if someone in the group doesn't know the answer they have to drink. The person who answered first makes the next statement. If nobody in the group knows the answer, then the asker says it and makes another statement about something they know.

16. Most Likely

17. Put on any movie or show and look up a list of drinking game rules online.

This is kind of a broad one, but it's similar to the Disney Princess game and a recipe for laughs and fun. Basically, put on the show or money of your choice, and then look up a drinking game for it. We've even done the work for you.

Watching a rom-com? Here's a list of clichés. Drink whenever you see one.

Horror movie? We've got you covered.

18. Disney Princess Drinking Game

19. Straight Face

All players write sentences on small pieces of paper. What kind of sentences? Ones that are ridiculous or inappropriate; ones that anyone would struggle to read (or hear) while keeping a straight face.

One at a time, each player will choose a slip of paper and attempt to read whatever is written on it without giggling or cracking a smile. If they fail, they have to drink.

20. Drunken Artists

Linda Belcher says, "You drunk enough to be any fun yet?" from a scene in the animated series Bob's Burgers

21. I'm Going to the Bar

Did you ever play the game I'm Going on a Picnic? This is like that...only with drinks. The first person begins by saying, "I'm going to the bar and I need to get a mojito" (or any other alcoholic beverage). After that, the ensuing players repeat the drink that the previous players said... but add another drink to the list as well.

Here's an example of what you'd have to say a few rounds in: "I'm going to the bar and I need to get a mojito, a tequila shot, a gin and tonic, and a hot toddy." You keep going and going until someone messes up; whoever messes up first takes a shot.

22. Sip Sip Shot

23. True or False Storytime

Everyone writes down various nouns on pieces of paper. When it's your turn, you select a piece, and roll the dice (not letting anyone see what number you rolled).

If you roll an even number, you need to tell a true story from your life involving whatever was written on the piece of paper. If you roll an odd number, you make a story up.

For example: If the piece of paper said "mosquito" and you rolled a two, you could tell that story about the time a mosquito bit you on your nipple while you were camping; if you rolled a three, you'd make up a story about a mosquito flying up your nose while you were making out with your high school boyfriend.

Everyone listens to your story and guesses if it's true or false. If they're wrong, *they* drink; if they're right, *you* drink (one gulp for every person who guesses correctly).

24. Attached at the Hip

Group of people dancing and enjoying themselves in a kitchen. Subtitles: "She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up."

25. Concoctions

Here's a game for people with strong stomachs. Get some dice and have everyone head to the kitchen. One at a time, players roll the die. If you roll a four, the other players will put together a little "treat" for you made up of four items: for instance, a Dorito chip topped with a bit of mustard, some onion dip, and an M&M. Will you eat it? If you do, *they* have to drink. If you won't, *you* have to drink. Bon appétit!

26. Medusa

27. Cup Swap

Each player needs two cups (one that's full of some sort of alcoholic beverage and one that's empty) and a spoon. Participants have one minute to transfer as much of their drink as possible from one cup to the other using the spoon. When the minute is up, you have to drink whatever's left in the original cup.

28. Bullshit

A woman is smiling with subtitles:
- You've been drinking.
- Ding! Ding! Ding!

29. Drink While You Think

The first person names a celebrity (Emma Watson, for example). The person to their left names a celebrity whose name begins with the letter of that celebrity's last name (Watson → Walt Disney). You must drink while you think of a name.

30. Paranoia

31. Let's Go Camping

Someone picks a place to go hypothetically camping (a basketball court, for example), but keeps it secret. Players suggest things to bring and the winner is the person who correctly guesses where they're camping. So, "a tent" is wrong, because there are no tents in basketball courts. But "sneakers" or "water bottle" would be right. If you guess wrong, you take a drink. If you win, you choose the next destination.

32. Titanic

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in a scene from Titanic. Caption: "What? You think a first-class girl can't drink?"

33. Flip It or Sip It

Flip a coin and guess if it will land heads or tails. If you're wrong, sip your drink and pass the coin to the left. If you're right, you can pass the coin to the right.

34. Cheers to the Governor

Person raising a champagne glass and smiling, saying "WEE-HEE!" with HBO logo in the corner

35. Pennies

Take turns trying to bounce a penny off the table into a glass. If you miss, you drink. If you get three pennies in a row, you get to make up a new rule.

Have fun! And remember to drink responsibly and only if you want to.
