CalAssist Mortgage Fund:
CalAssist Mortgage Fund is a state program that provides much-needed relief from mortgage payments for families whose primary residence was destroyed or is uninhabitable due to a qualified disaster, from 01/01/2023 through 01/08/2025. To better support recovery, the program has expanded mortgage assistance from 3 months to 12 months of coverage. Within Butte County, qualified disasters include the Park Fire and the Thompson Fire. Applications open February 9, 2026 and close March 11, 2026. Income limits apply.
ReCoverCA Homebuyer Assistance (DR-HBA) Program:
The ReCoverCA Homebuyer Assistance (DR-HBA) Program is a financial assistance program developed by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) to enable low and moderate income (LMI) residents (homeowners and renters) impacted by wildfires in 2018 and 2020 to relocate outside of high fire zone areas.
The Program provides homeownership assistance up to $350,000 designed to cover the funding gap between the First Mortgage Loan amount and the purchase price of a qualifying home.
Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) Down Payment Assistance Program:
Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) offers the "Assist-to-Own" program to help GSFA County Member employees achieve homeownership. Eligible buyers can receive up to 5.5% in Down Payment assistance.
