The AOS is supported by the private parking sector single Code of Practice (current version 1.1 – 17 February 2025).
This Code of Practice for the sector has been jointly created by the British Parking Association (BPA) and International Parking Community (IPC) and is largely based on the Government’s Private Parking Code of Practice.

Compliance Monitoring Programme
The compliance monitoring programme offers practical advice and guidance to members, whilst delivering regular site assessments and operational audits and addressing compliance issues that have arisen from complaints made by members of the public.
Because only the most professional and reputable operators will be able to satisfy the rigorous compliance criteria, the scheme will enable these members to set themselves apart as operators at the level of ‘Best Practice’. Over time therefore, ownership of the AOS logo, the Safer Parking Scheme logo, and membership to the BPA will help members to provide a feeling of safety and confidence for motorists when they choose to use a car park that is identified in this way.
