THIS Saturday the Dolphins hosted a touring team over from Guernsey, a mix of thirds and vets took the morning ferry over to represent Guernsey RFC on the mainland.

Poole were a little light on players, due to injuries from the first couple of league games. This led to a loan of a couple of players who switched at half time, to ensure everyone got a good run out.

The quality of play was some of the best seen on the moor in a long time. It was fast and skilful, with tries aplenty.

Poole man of the match Geoff Whitehead led the charge with four. Poole man of mistakes Rob James manged to set up Guernsey with a try, a clearance kick in the 22, caught the wind & floated back over the try line to be dotted down.

The final score was 69-54 to the hosts. However, it didn’t seem to matter as much as the friendships forged, on the field & in the bar afterwards.

Poole RFC return to competitive action this Saturday, October 25 as they host Cricklade RFC in the Dorset & Wilts Counties 3 cup. Kick off is 2pm.
