Trigeminal neuralgia used to be referred to as "sui.cide pain" because of the effect it has on the sufferer, and needs to be higher up this list. I have something similar, which is post-herpetic neuralgia in my trigeminal ganglion, which is exactly the same symptoms as TN but with a different cause.

The infamous Wakefield study, which looked as a very small cohort of 12 children and had no proper peer review. Wakefield suggested a novel form of enterocolitis, and it was found later that he stood to make many millions from selling test kits to detect this. Following an investigation, he was struck off the medial register in the UK. All of this came too late though, as the damage had been done and his "research" has become concrete evidence. Wakefield is now a prominent anti-vaxxer.

One of the big issues driving people away from vaccines is the "Wakefield report" where Wakefield et al. undertook a study of 12 children and it "found" a link between the MMR vaccine and autism. Many scholars have criticised the small sample size and the design of the study, and 10 of the 12 authors withdrew thier names from the paper, as they couldn't establish even a casual link between the two. It was later established that the study was fraudulent, and Wakefield was struck off from the medical register for his involvement in this. Subseqent studies have since proven there is no link between autism and the MMR vaccine, but the damage has been done.

While yes, if a donor person is declared brain dead and thus legally no longer viable they are not "alive". Their main bodily functions are being artificially maintained long enough to harvest the organs. And in the case of original post, assuming it's true as it was perceived, they wouldn't "decide" to let the person die to harvest their organs. It is their legal and moral obligation to administer all life saving measures including surgery up until the point of inarguable death. A doctor can't just decide to not perform an emergency life safing surgery because someone is an organ donor if that surgery would otherwise be done and deemed a potentially successful life saving measure.
