I recently came across an original drawing that is signed J.F. Hart, 1891. The paperbacking on the frame had already all but crumbled away, exposing a thin wood backing. Through a knot in the wood, I could see type face indicative of news print. Removing the wood revealed a two page section of a Pittsburgh news paper for the same year, 1891.
All signs point to this bing an original early piece by John Francis Hart. Although it doesn't appear to be worth a whole lot from what I've found, pretty neat non-the-less.
