According to the Detroit Free Press, Saturday, September 22, 1934, Redner died on September 21, 1934 (although his reported age was off by 14 years).
"Lawrence (Larry) Redner, staff artist on the Detroit Times and originator of several comic strips, died Friday in Receiving Hospital after an illness of two weeks. Mr. Redner, who was 36 years old, began his newspaper career in Cleveland. At one time he was on the staff of Newspaper Enterprise Association. Seven years ago he joined the staff of the Times. His wife, Mary, survives. Funeral arrangements had not been completed Friday night."
