Cookie and Tracking Technologies Notice
Last Updated: October 24, 2025
This Cookie and Tracking Technologies Notice describes how BlackBerry Limited and its subsidiaries (“BlackBerry,” “we,” “our” or “us”), along with authorized third parties, use cookies and other tracking technologies such as pixels and web beacons (collectively, “Tracking Technologies”) on our websites.
For more information about our overall privacy practices, the personal information we collect and use, and how to contact us, please see our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies and tracking technologies?
Cookies are small data files that websites ask your browser to store on your computer or mobile device. They enable websites to recognize your device when you return and are commonly used to allow websites to function properly, personalize your experience, analyze site usage, and deliver targeted advertising.
In addition to cookies, we and authorized third parties may use other tracking technologies such as pixels and web beacons. Pixels, also known as pixel tags or tracking pixels, are tiny, invisible images embedded in web pages or emails. They help us to understand how you interact with our content, such as when you view a webpage or open an email. Web beacons are like pixels and are often used in combination with cookies to understand user behavior on our websites. They help us track page visits, ad impressions, and engagement metrics.
Tracking Technologies may be stored on your device by BlackBerry or by third-party service providers acting on our behalf.
Why does BlackBerry use Tracking Technologies?
BlackBerry uses Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies to:
- Operate a secure website and provide a reliable user experience;
Allow you to log in to access certain content; - Provide enhanced website functionality, such online chatbots and personalization;
- Collect statistics about your website usage, such as time spent, pages viewed, and actions taken;
- Understand how you use our website by recording and analyzing site navigation, cursor movements and clicks;
- Measure and improve the effectiveness of our marketing activities; and deliver advertising about our products and services when you visit websites operated by other third-parties.
What types of Tracking Technologies does BlackBerry use?
BlackBerry uses the following types of Tracking Technologies on our websites:
- Essential Services or Strictly Necessary: These Tracking Technologies are essential for the website to function and are always active. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as accessing a web page, setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling out forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these Tracking Technologies, but portions of our websites may not work. These Tracking Technologies do not store any personally identifiable information.
- Personalization or Functionality: These Tracking Technologies enable the website to provide personalization and enhanced functionality. They may be set by us or by third parties whose services we use on our website. If you do not allow these Tracking Technologies, then some or all of these services may not function properly.
- Analytics or Performance: These Tracking Technologies allow us to analyze website visits, identify traffic sources, and understand how you interact with our website. This allows us to measure and improve website performance. They provide insights into which pages are most popular and how visitors navigate the site. All information these Tracking Technologies collect is aggregated and anonymous. If you do not allow these Tracking Technologies, we will not be able to measure visitors or understand site performance.
- Targeted Advertising or Targeting: These Tracking Technologies are used to deliver advertising and marketing content that is more relevant to your interests. They are set by our advertising partners to promote BlackBerry products and services. These partners may use the Tracking Technologies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on other websites. These Tracking Technologies do not store directly identifiable personal information but rely on uniquely identifying your browser and device. If you do not allow these Tracking Technologies, you will receive less targeted advertising about BlackBerry’s products and services.
How can I manage Tracking Technologies?
You can manage your Tracking Technologies preferences by using the “Cookie Settings” link located in the footer of our websites, or the Privacy Preference Centre linked below. These tools allow you to learn more about the Tracking Technologies we use and make decisions about which Tracking Technologies are enabled or processed by BlackBerry and our third parties. You may choose to reject or decline all Tracking Technologies, however this may result in our website having degraded functionality.
Most modern browsers also allow you to manage Tracking Technologies stored on your device. You may opt out of BlackBerry’s use of Tracking Technologies through one of the following methods:
- Adjust your browser settings to block or remove cookies, or set your preferred tracking prevention level. Please note that disabling all cookies or scripts from running may impact your ability to use certain BlackBerry Offerings and some features may not function properly without them.
- Install a browser plug-in, such as Privacy Badger (Electronic Frontier Foundation), Ghostery (Ghostery GmbH), or similar plug-ins to manage cookies and tracking technologies.
- Use third-party opt-out tools, such as YourOnlineChoices.eu or YourAdChoices.com, to opt out across different advertising networks.
How does BlackBerry respond to Privacy Preference signals?
If you visit a BlackBerry website using a device with a IP address located in a US State that requires recognition of privacy preference signals, and have enabled a privacy preference signal (e.g., Global Privacy Control), we will not collect device information for targeted advertising purposes. You can check whether your privacy preference signal has been recognized by using the Cookie Settings link located in the footer of our websites, or the Privacy Preference Centre linked above.
Your privacy preferences are only maintained on the browser and device where your privacy-preference signal is enabled. If you use multiple browsers and devices, you must set your privacy-preference signal within each to ensure your preferences are consistently applied.
